1,000+ 5-star reviews from parents & SLPs
Wondering when the first words will come? You're already doing the most important thing.
Every child finds their voice on their own timeline. Some are chatting at 12 months, others take their sweet time โ and there's a wide, beautiful range of normal in between.
The fact that you're here, looking for ways to make reading time more meaningful, says everything about the parent you are. You don't need to wait for a milestone or worry about a number. You just need a simple, joyful tool to make the time you already spend together do more.
That's what the next page is for.
What happens in a speech therapy session? Mostly this.
A pediatric SLP doesn't pull out flashcards or run drills. She reads a book. She makes a silly sound. She pauses. She waits. She celebrates every tiny try โ every gesture, every babble, every brave attempt.
That's the whole magic of it. Children learn language through joyful, back-and-forth play with people they love. The only difference between her reading time and yours is that she knows which sounds, which words, and which little pauses help most at each stage.
The most powerful thing a parent can do isn't more time โ it's a few small techniques used with love. These books are those techniques, written right onto the page. Anyone can use them.
Sounds โ Words โ Sentences
Three board books designed to grow with your child โ one for each natural stage of early language.
Imitation Book
Sparks early talking with playful sounds and actions. Your child watches, listens, and tries โ the critical first step toward words.
My Words Book
Real first words your toddler can actually say โ ball, mama, puppy, banana. Watch them say their first words with confidence.
Action Book
From single words to early sentences. Verbs and -ing words that turn "eat" into "she is eating" โ the bridge to talking in full.
Four simple moments that turn reading into talking practice.
Each book has gentle prompts woven into the pages that show you what to say, when to pause, and how to celebrate every little try. It's the same approach speech therapists use in their sessions โ written down so anyone can use it.
Stories from parents using the books every day
Real moments. Real first words. Real reviews.
This book helped my baby start to talk and say words at 12 months old. It's now part of our daily routine.
My 1-year-old watches the motions and sounds, and now imitates some of them. Watching her try is the best part of the day.
Short, uncluttered pages keep my toddler's attention. Her favorites are 'ah-choo' and 'pop pop pop.'
Super impressed โ my toddler picked up on it right away. We're seeing him try sounds and words he hadn't before.
Hi, I'm Stephanie
I'm a pediatric speech-language pathologist, mom, and the founder of Speech Therapy Publishing. After years of working one-on-one with toddlers and their families, I wanted to put the gentle techniques I use every day into something parents could pick up and use too.
That's how these books came to be โ written for the parent who wants to make their child's reading time the most powerful part of the day, with no special training required.
Things parents often ask
Quick answers from Stephanie and the team.
What age are these books for?
The books are made for babies and toddlers from about 6 months through age 4. The Imitation Book is a beautiful starting point as early as 6 months; My Words Book opens up around 12 months; Action Book bridges to early sentences from around 18 months. Most families come back to all three at different stages.
What makes these different from other board books?
Most board books focus on illustrations and a story. These are built around the gentle techniques speech therapists already use โ imitation, pause-and-wait, joyful repetition, and scaffolded vocabulary โ written right into the pages so you have everything you need to spark talking practice as you read.
How much time per day does this take?
10 to 15 minutes a day is plenty. Consistency matters more than length โ a short, playful reading most days will do more than one long session a week.
Do I really need all three books, or can I start with just one?
You can absolutely start with one. But the books were designed as a system that grows with your child: the Imitation Book builds the foundation, My Words Book adds vocabulary, and Action Book bridges to early sentences. The bundle saves $7.98 and gives you the full arc for the next two to three years.
When will I see new words come?
Most parents notice their child engaging more โ pointing, gesturing, trying sounds โ within the first week or two. New words usually come in 3 to 6 weeks of consistent reading. Every child is different though, and slower bloomers are just as wonderful.
What if my child doesn't respond right away?
Totally normal โ and totally okay. Some little ones watch quietly for weeks before they try a sound out loud. Keep reading playfully, keep pausing for their turn, and celebrate every little effort โ even a glance or a babble counts. The "Pause & Wait" step is the most powerful part.
What about shipping and returns?
The bundle ships free within the US, with most orders arriving in 3โ5 business days. If you're not happy with your books, send them back within 30 days for a full refund.
